Harbor Hill Housing in Sunset Park has been in operation since 1995 with 86 rent-subsidized units for the elderly and frail elderly ( those who are unable to perform at least three activities of daily living ). Harbor Hill Housing in Sunset Park is sponsored and developed by Lutheran Medical Center and is funded under Section 202 Project Rental Assistance Contract (PRAC) program of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The building staff includes one full-time manager, a service coordinator, resident superintendent, maintenance staff and 24-hour security.

Some of the activities at Harbor Hill include:

  • Senior Center
  • Tai Chi
  • Holiday parties
  • Transportation to nearby shopping centers

Eligibility Requirements

Under the PRAC Program, households meeting the income requirements pay no more than 30% of their adjusted income for rent. The federal government sets the market rents and pays the difference in the form of direct subsidy to the project.

The current income limits are as follows:

Harbor Hill accepts applications for senior citizens 62 years or older, who can live independently. Of the 86 rental units 12 are studios and 74 are one-bedroom units, with 51% of the units designed for the frail elderly.
