LHC President and CEO Discusses Safety-Nets and Affordable Care Act
Wendy Z. Goldstein, Lutheran HealthCare president and CEO, recently joined Alan Aviles, president and CEO of the Health and Hospitals Corporation, on WABC's weekly public affairs program, Tiempo to discuss serious financial issues facing safety-net hospitals in New York and around the country (video clip part one and part two).
Safety-net hospitals and health care facilities like Lutheran, that treat a disproportionate share of our nation's uninsured, underinsured and uninsurable populations, are facing a potentially crippling loss of Medicare and Medicaid DSH funding -- an unintended consequence of the ACA.
Lutheran has been in the spotlight after the recent New York Times front page story highlighting the safety-net services provided by the Lutheran HealthCare network. (more information here).
