"Urban Fellow" Brings Vast Experience to Lutheran for Eight-Month Mentorship Program

LFHC recently welcomed a new Urban Fellow to serve as a special assistant to the executive director. This temporary position is filled by Joe Frazier, a participant in the esteemed National Urban Fellows Program. The eleven-month Urban Fellows Program combines course work for masters in public administration from Baruch College with an eight-month mentorship (fellows work in either nonprofits or political agencies across the nation).

Joe brings with him a well-rounded background that includes 20+ years in both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps (21 in the Army as an officer, and six years in the Marines). He has also served as an officer with the IRS, consulted on health care issues, including EMR, and served as an Obama Fellow and political organizer during Obama's presidential campaign. Joe has an MBA in health care management, and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College.

After making it through the competitive application process, Joe was selected as one of 43 fellows, out of over 300 applicants, to take part in this prestigious program. Looking ahead, Joe is enthusiastic about working with LFHC. His key project will be coordinating the planning and start-up of a future LFHC clinic in Red Hook.

Joe noted that he was most impressed with Lutheran's holistic approach to health care and is looking forward to working with our community-based programs. Please join us as we welcome Joe Frazier to Lutheran!
