LMC AUXILIARY DONATES $60K AT ANNUAL LUNCHEON
Funds to benefit state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system
May 24, 2010, Brooklyn, NY
Lutheran Medical Center's Auxiliary president, Josephine Cashman, presented LHC president and CEO, Wendy Z. Goldstein, with a check for $60,000 at the Auxiliary's annual spring luncheon. The generous donation was made possible through the committed efforts of Auxiliary members who sponsor fundraising events, vendor sales and the hospital gift shop. This was the Auxiliary's 40th annual fundraising luncheon.
The donated funds will be used to purchase equipment for a cardiac monitoring system or "cockpit" at Lutheran. With advanced monitoring technology and centralized location, the cockpit will allow dedicated staff to observe and monitor patient status in real time. Monitor alarms will also be connected to wireless phones carried by nurses where, if necessary, they can provide immediate care if there is a change in condition.
Over the years, Lutheran's Auxiliary has donated over $2 million to purchase a new Trauma Services ambulance, multilingual signage for the hospital, renovation of the NICU, renovation and expansion of the ER and recovery rooms and
cutting-edge radiation therapy equipment for cancer patients. Started in 1906, the auxiliary supports the work of the medical center through service-oriented projects and fundraising activities. The men and women of the Auxiliary are dedicated to serving patients and their families, supporting medical center staff, helping with community relations, providing health services information and fundraising to support services for patients.
