LUTHERAN HEALTHCARE'S 127TH ANNIVERSARY GALA RAISES OVER $1.2 MILLION
Nearly 900 casino night guests help raise funds for electronic medical implementation
May 11, 2010, Brooklyn, NY…Lutheran HealthCare was the big winner at its black tie casino night fundraiser. Attended by more than 900 partygoers, the 127th Anniversary Dinner Dance raised over $1.2 million to benefit the implementation of the medical center's electronic medical record (EMR) system. The hospital-wide EMR system will significantly and positively impact patient safety, clinical efficiency and overall quality of care.
Hosted by Emmy Award-winning WNBC anchor, Michael Gargiulo, the night was full of casino games, festivities and special honors for Robert A. Zaloom, M.D., director of the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Cardiology Center (physician honoree) and ARAMARK Healthcare (corporate honoree). Honorees received the Sister Elisabeth Fedde (LHC founder, 1883) Medal of Service, established to recognize individuals who continue her legacy of service and commitment to serving the needs of our neighbors.
The event attracted esteemed guests including local elected officials and Sopranos star, Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts on the hit HBO show). Top casino prizes included all expense paid trips to Las Vegas (grand prize), Atlantic City (second prize) and N.Y.C. (third prize). Top selling silent auction items included: vacation properties in Paris and London, sports memorabilia and tickets, concert and opera tickets, designer jewelry, a first-class spa experience and much more.
