BRETT YORMARK AND NETS SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT TO HEADLINE LUTHERAN HEALTHCARE'S 125TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER DANCE
March 6, 2008, Brooklyn, New York
Lutheran HealthCare (LHC) and its board of trustees are proud to announce its 125th Anniversary Dinner Dance major corporate honoree, Brett D. Yormark, president and CEO, Nets Sports and Entertainment LLC. The annual event raises much-needed dollars for LHC health programs and community services.
"Next to our soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets, I can't imagine a more winning team than Lutheran HealthCare and Brett Yormark," said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. "Brett has been one of the biggest cheerleaders for the return of professional sports to Brooklyn—spearheading the Nets' move to a new arena at Atlantic Yards. And just as our borough will benefit from Brett's vision and extraordinary leadership, so will Lutheran HealthCare as it continues to provide its patients with the very best health care available."
"Because this is such an important year for Lutheran, we wanted to select a corporate honoree who best represents the energy and excitement of Brooklyn's future," said Wendy Z. Goldstein, president and CEO, LHC. "Mr. Yormark and Nets Sports and Entertainment LLC do that and much more. We are honored to have his support and we are delighted to welcome him to Brooklyn and to the Lutheran HealthCare family. It is going to be a wonderful evening."
Lutheran will host its 125th Anniversary Dinner Dance at Chelsea Piers on May 10. As the health system's primary fundraiser, the event raises much-needed dollars to support its wide-ranging health and community service programs. Additional presenting sponsors include the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation, Commerce Bank, The Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Forest City Ratner Companies.
"I deeply appreciate being honored by Lutheran HealthCare and it's my pleasure to help support such a vital health care network in Brooklyn," said Yormark. "We are excited to bring the Nets to the borough and to be part of the great future and fabric of Brooklyn."
Brett Yormark joined Nets Sports and Entertainment in January, 2005, and under his direction his first three seasons have been the most successful business years in team history. In 2006, Yormark was named for the third time to the "Forty Under 40" list by Sports Business Journal. That same year, Crain's New York Business named him to its "40 Under Forty" roster for the second time in his career. He has also been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and CNN, as well as in Newsweek, Fortune, and Sports Illustrated. Yormark's on the board of the Association for Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and is a member of the Young Presidents' Organization of northern New Jersey. His current mission is to spearhead the Nets move to the Frank Gehry-designed Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which will take place during calendar year 2010.
