LUTHERAN PERIOPERATIVE NURSING CONFERENCE SET FOR A BIG APPLE REVIVAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LUTHERAN PERIOPERATIVE NURSING CONFERENCE SET FOR A BIG APPLE REVIVAL

September 15, 2009, Brooklyn, New York…Last year, Lutheran hosted the area's first perioperative nursing conference at the crossroads to the world - Times Square. It was such a success the show is coming back to Broadway with an even bigger revival on October 10, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

With the new theme, "Celebrating our Unsung Heroes," this year's conference is set to take on the big apple again by celebrating nurses and sharing the most current best practices to enhance the delivery of quality perioperative care.

The comprehensive one-day event will be held at the New York Marriott Marquis. It is designed for registered professional perioperative nurses, surgical technologists and other health care providers and features a number of special guest speakers including keynote speaker (left) Terry Hawkins, C.S.P. Ms. Hawkins is one of the most sought after speakers for her dynamic, informative and memorable presentations. Today, she is the most booked female speaker in Australia!

Other guest speakers include William Duffy, R.N., M.J. (Health Law), C.N.O.R., and Maria E. Stilson, B.S.N., R.N., C.N.O.R. Mr. Duffy is the vice president of nursing for Evanston Hospital and past president of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Ms. Stilson is the manager of the nurse residency program, the student nurse extern program and is the nurse recruiter for Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Additionally, in a move that mirrors the ever-present collaborative, generous and giving spirit of Lutheran employees, a group of surgeons has pitched in to sponsor our own surgical techs so they may attend. Thanks to this group, many LMC techs will receive a scholarship, which will cover the cost of the conference. For more information or to register contact Tim Ketring at 718-630-6969 or tketring at lmcmc.com.
