LHC TO HOST ELCA COMMUNITY WORSHIP SERVICE FOR SOUTHWEST BROOKLYN CONGREGATIONS

LHC TO HOST ELCA COMMUNITY WORSHIP SERVICE FOR SOUTHWEST BROOKLYN CONGREGATIONS

September 4, 2009, Brooklyn, New York…As part of a renewed sprit of "oneness," among southwest Brooklyn congregations of the Metropolitan New York Synod/ELCA, Lutheran is honored to announce a special celebratory worship service to be held in the main entrance parking lot on Sunday, September 13, starting at 4 p.m.

The community worship service will include food, live jazz and all LHC staff are welcome and encouraged to attend. Note: The rain or shine event will be moved inside and be held in the LHC auditorium and main lobby area in the event of inclement weather.

LHC is an active partner in the southwest Brooklyn Congregations, and along with Rev. Don Stiger, SVP for Mission and Spiritual Care, regularly collaborates to develop and support access to faith-inspired services such as health care, housing, senior care, nutrition, immigration and social justice advocacy in our communities.

Highlights of the September 13 service include a joint worship of more than 11 Brooklyn congregations, a very special visit from The Rev. Robert Rimbo, Bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and an introduction from Wendy Z. Goldstein, president and CEO, LHC.
