FRESH AIR FUND AND LUTHERAN FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS HOST 2nd ANNUAL REGISTRATION OPEN HOUSE IN SUNSET PARK

EVENT: The Fresh Air Fund and Lutheran Family Health Centers will host the 2nd annual joint Registration Open House for Sunset Park. Two hundred community members, Fresh Air Fund Executive Director, Jenny Morgenthau, and Lutheran Family Health Centers' Vice President of Community Based Programs, Kathy Hopkins, will host the event to inform and register local families in Fresh Air Fund programs.

PLACE: PS 169, 4305 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11232

On April 8, Fresh Air Fund representatives and community members will gather to kick off efforts aimed at giving more children in Sunset Park enriching Fresh Air experiences, free of charge. The Fund will discuss its initiatives to reach out to new immigrant groups, and Mandarin and Spanish interpreters will be on hand to provide program and registration information to guests. Families are welcome and encouraged to register their children for Fresh Air programs at the event.

In conjunction with the registration event, the Sunset Park Promise Neighborhood will be conducting a survey to gain insight on how to best support children, strengthen families and create a healthier community. Click here for more information on the Sunset Park Promise Neighborhood.

THE FRESH AIR FUND, an independent, not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million children since 1877. In 2010, close to 5,000 children visited volunteer host families in suburbs and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. 3,000 children also attended five Fresh Air camps on a 2,300-acre site in Fishkill, New York. The Fund's year-round camping program serves an additional 2,000 young people each year.

THE LUTHERAN FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS (LFHC), based in Sunset Park, is a federally qualified community-based ambulatory health care system affiliated with Lutheran HealthCare. LFHC is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home. Governed by the Sunset Park Health Council, Inc., LFHC is one of the largest health center networks in the country serving as southwest Brooklyn's medical home for more than 40 years. With nine full-time community health centers, 29 school-based health centers and community programs, including three WIC programs, adult and family literacy programs, three child care centers and a family wellness center, the network is the primary medical provider for approximately 86,000 people providing nearly 600,000 patient visits per year.
