A Supportive Environment

Clinical Support

Lutheran offers residents much clinical support, including an IV team and phlebotomy, messenger and patient-transport services. Our patient-care information system provides residents with online patient data, including laboratory and radiology results. All house staff officers receive palm pilots loaded with educational material.

House Staff Organization and Facilities

Lutheran house staff participate in an independent organization that serves as an advocate for residents in discussions with Lutheran's administration. This organization sponsors social and recreational programs that help residents become familiar with the medical center and our community.

Lutheran's on-call suite and house staff lounge are available to all residents. Many of our residents also spend some of their free time relaxing on Lutheran's roof terrace, which offers a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline.

Educational Resource Center

The Lutheran Educational Resource Center includes the library, computer center, and audio/visual support center.

The library is open seven days a week. In addition to housing a vast variety of books and journals, our extensive medical library puts residents in touch with the computer services of the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE.

The Lutheran audio/visual and computer center is equipped with the latest personal computers and offers a variety of multimedia and online services to our residents.
